ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -The New York Yankees want a state judge to quash a subpoena from Assembly committees investigating the use of public money to help build the team’s new stadium, saying the issue already has been fully aired publicly.
At a hearing Tuesday, lawyers for the team say Assemblyman Richard Brodsky is exceeding his authority and harassing the Yankees with legal action.
Brodsky, a Westchester Democrat, says the team used $4 billion in public-supported financing to build the new stadium across from the old one in the Bronx, while raising prices beyond the reach of many taxpayers. He says the Yankees should be forced to disclose their information.
State Supreme Court Justice John Egan Jr. hasn’t ruled. He set the next hearing for May 27.
