CINCINNATI (AP) -Reds right-hander Todd Coffey was sent to the minors Monday, the latest move by Cincinnati to get their one-time setup man back on track.
The Reds optioned Coffey to Triple-A Louisville and called up left-hander Bill Bray, who missed most of spring training with a sore pitching shoulder. Bray gave up one run in 8 2-3 innings for Louisville.
Coffey lost his role as a setup man last season, when he had a 5.82 earned run average. He lost weight in the offseason and allowed only one hit all spring training, but struggled again when the season began. Coffey had a 6.46 ERA in 14 appearances.
