CINCINNATI (AP) -The Milwaukee Brewers activated right-hander Yovani Gallardo off the 15-day disabled list Sunday to start against the Cincinnati Reds.
Utility player Joe Dillon was optioned to Triple-A Nashville. Dillon was primarily a pinch-hitter, going 2-for-10 in nine games.
Gallardo started the season on the disabled list while recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. The 22-year-old pitcher went 9-5 with a 3.67 ERA last season as a rookie.
“I feel good,” Gallardo said before the move was announced. “The knee’s no problem. I was able to do everything on rehab. I covered bases, ran to first and didn’t feel it at all. So I’m very happy with it.”
