PITTSBURGH (AP) -Houston Astros right-hander Brian Moehler will have an MRI exam on his sprained right knee Tuesday after lasting only four innings in his first two starts.
Moehler (0-2) gave up five runs and seven hits in 2 1-3 innings of a 7-0 loss in Pittsburgh on Monday. He was equally ineffective in his season debut, an 11-6 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday when he yielded seven runs and eight hits in 1 2-3 innings.
“It’s one of those things that’s been bugging me a little bit and hopefully it’s not major, nothing serious is going to show up and we’ll treat it as need be,” Moehler said. “It’s aggravating, it’s there and I can feel it. I try to push off my back leg and it’s there – there’s no other way to describe it.”
The problem apparently developed late in spring training, when Moehler allowed only two earned runs in 19 innings during his last four appearances. He was 11-8 with a 4.56 ERA in 31 games last season.
