NEW YORK (AP) -Who cares about a few raindrops? Both the Yankees and Mets are set to take their new stadiums for a test drive with exhibition games Friday evening.
Thousands of people already have taken their seats on a wet day at the new Yankee Stadium and Citi Field – the first Major League Baseball stadiums built in the city in 45 years.
The Yankees are playing the Chicago Cubs on Friday and Saturday, while the Mets play the Boston Red Sox at Citi Field.
That’s weather permitting – the forecast is for more rain.
Both teams open the regular season Monday on the road.
The Yankees’ new ballpark cost $1.5 billion, the most ever for a baseball stadium. Citi Field cost $800 million.
