CHICAGO (AP) -The average price of a New York Yankees’ ticket this season was revised to $41.40 on Wednesday by the Team Marketing Report, an increase from $36.58 in the initial figures the company issued last week.
While the TMR said last week that the Yankees’ average went up a big league high 26.1 percent, it revised the increase to 18.1 percent. TMR also raised the team’s 2007 average to $35.05 from $29.09.
“One sticking point in determining the Yankees’ ticket price, along with several other teams, is the idea of premium seating,” TMR executive editor Jon Greenberg said. “Because there are few amenities tacked on to what some would consider premium seating, it can be tough to determine which seats are premium, and which are just really expensive.”
Because of the revisions, this year’s major league average is $25.43, an increase of 10.1 percent. TMR initially said there was a 10.9 percent rise to $25.40.
TMR said that next year it will address “all-you-can-eat” seats, which are classified as premium by some teams.
TMR’s major league fan cost index was revised to $191.92 from $191.75, an increase of 7.9 percent rather than 8.3 percent. The figure includes two adult tickets at the average price, two child tickets at the average if available, two beers, four soft drinks, four hot dogs, parking, two programs and two adult caps.
