PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) -Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun left in the second inning of Tuesday night’s game against the San Diego Padres to get X-rays on his right thumb.
The 2007 National League rookie of the year, who hit .285 with 37 homers and 106 RBIs last season, appears to have been injured when he misplayed a first-inning line drive to left field off the bat of the Padres’ Brian Giles. The play went for an error.
Braun was making only his sixth Cactus League appearance of the spring after playing for the United States in the World Baseball Classic. Braun drove in his third RBI this spring on a first-inning groundout, his only at-bat.
