SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -Home run king Barry Bonds has arrived at a federal courthouse in San Francisco, where he is expected to plead not guilty to charges he lied to a grand jury investigating steroid use in sports.
This will be Bonds’ third time pleading in the case. He was originally indicted in November 2007, but the government has revised the charges twice to fix legal technicalities.
Bonds’ trial stemming from charges he made false declarations to a grand jury and obstructed justice starts next month. If convicted, he faces a sentence between probation and two years in prison.
