Latest on Cotton from Rotoworld: Athletics recalled Cotton from Triple-A Nashville. He’ll start for the A’s on Saturday against the Yankees in New York. Cotton has pitched well since his demotion to Triple-A, but registered a troublesome 5.68 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 35/16 K/BB ratio across 38 innings in his seven starts with the A’s earlier this season.
Sabathia allowed just two runs — one earned — over five innings Sunday in the Yankees’ defeat of the Rays. The first run came in the bottom of the first inning when a pickoff throw from catcher Gary Sanchez went awry and allowed Corey Dickerson to score from second base. Derek Norris then hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. Sabathia gave up just four total hits and issued only one walk while striking out six. He’ll carry a 4-2 record and 4.62 ERA into his next start at home versus the Athletics.
