From Rotoworld: Garcia delivered a strong start in Sunday’s loss to the Nationals, allowing three runs (one earned) on seven hits over eight innings of work. The veteran southpaw racked up eight strikeouts on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. Daniel Murphy clubbed a solo homer off of him in the second inning and the Nats pushed across a pair of unearned runs in the third, but Garcia was dynamite otherwise. Now 1-3 on the season, he’ll carry a 4.07 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into Friday’s start.
Cain was shelled for seven earned runs over 5 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Cardinals. Cain gave up four runs in the bottom of the second on two singles, a double, a walk, and a sacrifice fly. He walked three and surrendered nine total hits, including a two-run homer to Matt Carpenter in the bottom of the fifth. The veteran right-hander will carry a 4.91 ERA into his next start at home versus the Braves.
