Rotoworld on Davies: Davies allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings in a win over the Mets on Saturday. Davies is still struggling to find his groove, but he’s now won his last four decisions and the Brewers are 5-0 in his last five starts. One of the things he’ll need to improve upon going forward is getting deeper into games, as he’s still yet to see the seventh inning this year. The 24-year-old will carry a 5.80 ERA and 1.74 WHIP into Thursday’s matchup with the Padres.
Cosart will start against the Brewers on Thursday in place of Trevor Cahill (shoulder). The Padres placed Cahill on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain on Wednesday. Cosart, himself, is fresh off the DL after finishing up his rehab from a strained hamstring. In three appearances (one relief, two starts) this season prior to going down injured, the 26-year-old Cosart holds a 3.24 ERA and 4/6 K/BB ratio over the course of 8 1/3 innings. He posted a 6.00 ERA in 13 starts last season.
Bet Today’s Brewers vs. Padres Game
OUR PREDICTION: The Brewers are a perfect 5-0 in Davies’ last five starts and are 4-1 in his last four outings on the road. They’re also 5-2 in their last seven games coming off a win and are 8-0 in their last eight games after allowing two runs or less in their previous contest. On the other side, the Padres are just 1-6 in Cosart’s last seven starts, are 1-4 in his last five home outings, and are 1-6 in their last seven games versus National League Central opponents.
