Jeter was not listed to start for the second consecutive game on Wednesday because of ankle discomfort. The shortstop was removed from the lineup against Philadelphia on Tuesday for ``precautionary'' reasons because his surgically repaired left ankle feels ``stiff.''

Jeter has mild inflammation of the ankle, which a precautionary MRI showed on Tuesday. An X-ray was negative and he's listed as day-to-day.

The 13-time All-Star broke his left ankle in Game 1 of the AL championship series in October. He played in his first spring game on March 9 and later played the field for the first time. He is 3 for 11 so far.
