This is our third addition of our looking ahead in the NBA article. The first time we went 2-1 ATS, the second time we went 3-1 ATS over the course of 4 days with confidence rankings of 1-3 stars. We hit on both 3 star confidence plays and now we turn to the end of the NBA season where lots of teams are surely looking ahead. Let’s take a look…
4/11 – Golden State Warriors @ LA Lakers (Play on the Lakers +10) 3* Confidence Ranking
This is clearly a look-ahead spot for the Warriors on the road against the Lakers who are 35 games out of first place with the Portland Blazers up next. The Warriors are only 2 games back of the 5th seed trailing the Portland Blazers. Here is the big question and why this is only a 1* confidence rankings? Do the Blazers want the Clippers or do they want Houston? That’s what is on the line if they are going to leap frog the Blazers. Either way, I expect the spread to be sizeable and the Lakers already won at home as +5 underdog against the Warriors earlier this season. The Lakers will be on 2 days rest while the Warriors will be traveling on 0 days rest where they are 5-8 ATS on the year. I expect the Warriors to cruise throughout this game and save it for Portland.
4/11- Portland Blazers @ Utah Jazz (Play on the Jazz +8) 1** Confidence Ranking
Portland is in a similar situation to the Warriors as they are clearly looking ahead to facing the Warriors on Sunday. If anything the Blazers are looking ahead to the game on Sunday more as they trail the Rockets by just 1.5 games and with the potential of moving up to having home field advantage in the playoffs there is just more on the line. The Blazers also have a game against the Clippers to follow so I expect them to use this game as their rest game. They will play their starters, but they will only play hard when they need to late. I even think the Jazz could steal this game as they have been traditionally a good home team just not this season.
4/12 Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks (Play on the Bucks + the points) 1* Confidence Ranking
The Wizards are in a lock with the Charlotte Bobcats for the 6th and 7th spot. The 6th spot is miles better than the 7th spot in the East because you avoid the top two teams in the Pacers and Miami and you get to play a much more manageable Toronto Raptors. Milwaukee is the worst team in the league by a mile and if anything they have a lot to play for as a spoiler and wins against playoff teams bodes well for a team going into the off season. The Wizards are likely to be double-digit favorites and have a bigger game on deck that they’ll want to save their energy for against the Miami Heat on 4/14.
4/12 Charlotte Bobcats vs. Philadelphia 76ers (Play on the 76ers + the points) 2* Confidence Ranking
Like the Wizards the Bobcats are trying to hang on to the #6 seed in the East to avoid the Pacers and the Heat. The Bobcats will be on 0 days rest after a trip to Boston on Friday night and will have to wrap up the season against playoff bound Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls. The 76ers since tying the NBA’s longest losing streak have been playing better covering 5 of their last 6 games. I expect the 76ers to play well and cover a double digit spread.
