Diaz vs. Kim Prediction

2011 UFC 125 Picks Nate Diaz Dong Hyun Kim

LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Two rising welterweight square off at UFC 125 on Saturday as Nate Diaz takes on Dong Hyun Kim. Here is a breakdown of my pick for this contest.

UFC 125 takes place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air live on Pay-Per-View at 10PM ET. Kim enters the fight as the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com as he has betting odds of -130 while Diaz comes into the fight with odds of +100.

Dong Hyun Kim (13-0-1)

Kim is undefeated in his career as he uses his size and strength to control opponents while mixing in judo throws and takedowns. Despite being a welterweight, Kim is one of the bigger in his division and typically has a weight advantage by fight time. Kim’s biggest asset is his ability to frustrate opponents as they tend to struggle with his strength and underestimate his abilities. Though his doesn’t have a lot of excitement in his fights and hasn’t finished an opponent since 2008, his style is effective.

Nate Diaz (13-5)

Diaz is a cagey fighter that is a jiu-jitsu black belt but he prefers to use his boxing to pick apart his opponents. His long reach and solid jab give his opponents a lot of problems in terms of getting inside his range and grapple with him. Since his move from lightweight to welterweight, Diaz has won two fights in impressive fashion, but those fights were against two strikers. In his career, Diaz has struggled against superior wrestlers.

Who To Pick?

Diaz has looked really good as of late, but this fight will be his toughest test since moving to welterweight. Kim has a good chin and is really strong and I see him being able to takedown Diaz and control him from the top. Diaz won’t be able to execute his game plan, which should allow Kim to win by decision. My pick is with the favorite. UFC 125 FREE PICK: DONG HYUN KIM -130
