AKRON, Ohio (AP) -Suspended Akron starting quarterback Chris Jacquemain has been removed from the team for the remainder of the season.
Zips coach J.D. Brookhart suspended Jacquemain for last Saturday’s game against Indiana for violating team policy. On Wednesday, Brookhart said Jacquemain will not return but will remain on scholarship. Jacquemain apologized in a statement for his actions and said he will concentrate on getting his degree.
Also, assistant coach Reno Ferri was placed on administrative leave and suspended with pay pending an internal review of NCAA compliance requirements.
Akron plays Central Michigan on Saturday.
