Thursday Night Football is here again as college football rolls into Week 3. North Carolina travels to Jersey to take on Rutgers, so lets take a look at the game matchup, point spread, trends and hand out a prediction as well.
Kickoff: 7:30 PM ET ESPN
Point Spread: Rutgers –6
Over/Under: 47
Game Matchup:
These two teams met in 2006 when North Carolina was a 4-point home favorite. Rutgers beat the Tar Heels 21-16 as UNC failed to produce points deep into Scarlet Knights’ territory. The Heels also had a touchdown called back.
The Tar Heels have not won a road game outside the state of North Carolina since 2002. Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Rutgers a 6-point home favorite Thursday night.
Trends:
RUTGERS is 1-0 against the spread versus N CAROLINA over the last 3 seasons
RUTGERS is 1-0 straight up against N CAROLINA over the last 3 seasons
1 of 1 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL over the last 3 seasons
Prediction:
Both of these teams are fairly even offensively, but Rutgers boasts the better defense and NC has a big edge on special teams. While the Knights have not faired well without RB Ray Rice (NFL/Ravens) this season, North Carolina has not been good on the road and RU should post a win. We predict Rutgers over North Carolina 28-16.
