(The Spread) – The Seahawks are expressing interest in Terrell Owens and Matt Flynn is reportedly the favorite to start at quarterback – let’s spin around the NFL.
According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, T.O. had an impressive workout wit the Seahawks on Monday and the team will apparently try to sign him. Owens reportedly ran a sub-4.5 40 and will compete with newly signed Braylon Edwards for a roster sport in Seattle.
Staying in Seattle, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed on SportsCenter Monday that Matt Flynn is the favorite to start for the Seahawks. Tarvaris Jackson and Russell Wilson are both competing with Flynn for the starting quarterback job and while Wilson has impressed, Flynn was the Hawks’ “big money” free agent so he’ll receive every opportunity to start.
Updating some injury situations, Andre Johnson (groin) returned to practice at the Texans training camp on Monday but Jets’ wideout Santonio Holmes is expected to miss at least a week of practice time after bruising his ribs. Packers’ receiver Greg Jennings suffered a concussion in the Packers’ pre-exhibition season scrimmage over the weekend.
One more receiver-related note: The Jaguars agreed to terms with No. 5 overall pick Justin Blackmon on a four-year, $19.5 million contract on Monday. He’s excepted to report to training camp on Tuesday after missing a little over a week of work.
