(The Spread) – American Idol Season 11 is down to its final two contestants and according to oddsmakers, Philip Phillips is heavily favored over Jessica Sanchez.
Heading into Wednesday’s finale, Phillips is a 4/13 favored to win American Idol Season 11, while Sanchez is considered the “long shot” at 5/2. Neither of these two have ever been included in the dreaded “Bottom 3,” although Sanchez was saved by the judges on April 12.
Heading into the final three contestants, Phillips was favored with 11/10 odds while Joshua Ledet had the next best odds at 2/1. Sanchez, who was favored three weeks ago by oddsmakers, was the long shot at 9/4 but she managed to stave off elimination as Ledet was let go last week.

Sanchez is from San Diego, California and before she made it to the finale of American Idol she was best known for her appearance on the first season of “America’s Got Talent” where she was brought back by judge Brandy during the show’s wildcard round. She made Idol history earlier this season when she was saved from elimination by the judges after receiving the lowest number of votes in the top seven round. She was the first female contestant to have ever been saved by the judges.
Phillips is from Leesburg Georgia and auditioned in North Charleston while signing Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Some have suggested that he sounds like Dave Matthews, at least from a vocal styling standpoint.
