According to oddsmakers from online sports book, the Braves' current 2013 World Series odds are 12/1, which are down from 16/1 (which is where they were before the acqusuition of Upton). Clearly oddsmakers are playing into the perception that Atlanta will be a much better club in 2013, which is certainly a very good possibility.

The Braves finalized the trade on Thursday afternoon, acquiring Upton and third baseman Chris Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for third baseman Martin Prado, right-handers Randall Delgado and Zeke Spruill, shortstop Nick Ahmed, and first baseman Brandon Drury. The trade was by far the biggest deal this MLB offseason.

Upton's agent reportedly told the Diamondbacks front office in October that a "trade might be best for everyone." While Arizona is refusing to call the deal a trade request, it clearly looks like it was. Upton joins is brother B.J. Upton in Atlanta, as well as fellow outfielder Jason Heyward. The Braves' defense and offense improves dramatically in the deal.

As far as the rest of the 2013 World Series odds are concerned, the Blue Jays remain a 7/1 favorite while the Dodgers are 17/2 and the Tigers are 9/1 to win. The Angels and Nationals both have 9/1 odds, respectively, while the defending World Series champion Giants are 12/1. The Reds, Yankees and Rangers are all 14/1, respectively.
