The Yankees signed Tanaka to a seven-year, $155 million contract on Wednesday after the 25-year-old starter put up great numbers in Japan. The Dodgers and Cubs were also interested but he told the media on Thursday that he signed with the Yankees because they “gave me the highest evaluation and are a world-famous team.”

Will Tanaka win the 2014 AL Cy Young? According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the odds for the pitcher to accomplish the feat are 10/1. The site also lists Tanaka’s over/under for total ERA in the 2014 regular season at 3.20 and wins at o/u 14.5.

The Yankees are currently 10/1 to win the 2014 World Series, which gives them the same odds as the Washington Nationals. The Dodgers are currently favored to win next year’s Fall Classic at 13/2, while the Tigers are 17/2 and the Red Sox and Cardinals are 12/1. The Rangers are also 14/1 while the Angels are 16/1 and the Braves, Reds, A’s and Giants are all 18/1, respectively.
