Week 16 Recap: Unders cash in again
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – If you favor unders at the betting window then chances are you’ve cashed the past three weeks in the NFL.
Nine out of the 13 games in Week 16 went under the total (the Philadelphia-Washington total pushed), including some of the higher point totals on Sunday. The Colts-Cowboys’ total sat at 53 at kickoff but fell just under the total despite the Cowboys scoring 28 first-half points. The Colts were stopped inside the red zone on the final play of the game or else a touchdown would have cashed for overs bettors.
Another game that had the potential for a shootout that wound up being somewhat of a defensive struggle was the Falcons’ 30-14 win over the Saints. The total was 56 at kickoff but the two teams had combined to score just 27 points through three quarters. In fact, had Osi Umenyiora not scored on a fumble recovery in the closing seconds then the combined score wouldn’t have even approached the 40s.
Totals bettors have one final chance at cashing in on Week 16 as the Broncos will play the Bengals tonight in Cincinnati. According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Broncos are currently listed as 3.5-point road favorites while the total is listed at 47 points.
Unders were also a hot play in both Week 14 of the NFL season and Week 15.
