Mine That Bird Odds
Of all the horses in Saturday’s Breeders Cup Classic, Mine That Bird, has one of the best resumes.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have given Mine That Bird 15/1 odds to win. Zenyatta is the pre-race favorite at 3/1 while Rip Van Winkle (10/3) and Summer Bird (6/1) have short odds to win.
Foaled in May of 2006, Mine That Bird was sired by Birdstone, which won the 2004 Belmont Stakes.
Known for making a strong finish, Mine That Bird is the 2009 Kentucky Derby winner and also finished second in this year’s Preakness Stakes and third in the Belmont Stakes. His most recent race was a third place finish in the West Virginia Derby on Aug. 1
Mine That Bird also has three wins to its credit in 2008.
With the Kentucky Derby track similar to what he will see on Saturday, Mine That Bird is a strong play with such large odds due to his finishing ability. He drew gate No. 1 for Saturday’s race, so getting out fast will be important so he isn’t lost in the shuffle early.
If you like Mine That Bird for Saturday’s race, it might be wise to hop on his odds now because he’s a recognizable name. The public may push his odds down at race time, so at 15/1 he offers a ton of value.
Don’t forget that Mine That Bird is always ridden by the popular and confident Calvin Borel, who has won 100 races from 567 mounts and has earned $7,778,738 to rank 10th among all North American riders. Borel is another reason to hop on Mine That Bird’s odds early at 18/1.
