Offseason Additions:
The Bulls didn’t make a ton of moves, but wound up signing Luol Deng to a contract extension. They’ll probably lose Ben Gordon at the end of the year, but maybe he’ll play hard for a new contract and the team can trade him in-season. Chicago also signed former San Antonio Spur Vinny Del Negro and drafted playmaker Derrick Rose.
2008-2009 Season Outlook:
This probably no better than an average team, but they once again have a ton of potential. Deng is budding star and Rose should make some noise as a rookie, but Kurt Hinrich, Drew Gooden and Joakim Noah will have to overachieve for this team to have a shot this year.
Del Negro is also a mystery, but that’s not a bad thing. He could wind up inspiring a young, underachieving team or his inexperience as a coach could shine through in his first year. But the bottom line is that this team does have talent and could surprise playing in the East.
