Zenyatta Breeders Cup Odds
When the 2010 Breeders’ Cup Classic kicks off on Saturday at Churchill Downs, there’s one horse that will steal the spotlight and her name is Zenyatta.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Zenyatta -150 on the moneyline to win this year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic. The only other racing horses with comparable odds are Blame at +350 on the moneyline, Lookin at Lucky at +250 and Quality Road, who is +400 to win.
Zenytatta has won all 19 of her starts, making her one of the few undefeated horses in American Throughbred racing history. Jerry and Ann Moss are her owners and jockey Mike Smith has raced her for 16 of 19 starts. Smith will once again have the mount this Saturday when Zenyatta takes on the field at the Breeders’ Cup.
Zenyatta has raced four times this year with, of course, four-straight victories. She started off the season with a win at the Santa Margarita (G1) and followed up that performance with a win at Apple Blossom (G1). Then in June, she beat St Trinians and Zardana at the Vanity Handicap (G1) and then beat out Rinterval and Princess Taylor at the Clement L. Hirsch (G1). In her most recent race, she defeated Switch and Moon De French at the Lady’s Secret (G1) on October 2.
If any horse is to knock her off her perfect perch, it could be Lookin At Lucky. After finishing a disappointing 6th at the 2010 Kentucky Derby, Lookin At Lucky has cleaned house since. He beat First Dude and Jackson Bend at the Preakness and then picked up wins at the Haskell (G1) on August 1 and in his latest race at the Indiana Derby (G2) on October 2. But can he overcome his poor performance at Churchill Downs on May 1?
The Breeders’ Cup Classic will be Zenyatta’s final race. If she can hold off Lookin At Lucky and the rest of the field, she’ll go out an impressive 20-0. But to those that have watched her race over the years, she has already won the hearts of so many. Win, lose or draw, Zenyatta has already made history in the sport of American Thoroughbred Racing.
