Open Picks

The 2009 Open will tee off on Thursday, and our team of writers and handicappers have put together three free picks for the event.

Bet PGA Odds
The Open has a talented field but many of the top golfers in the world are not competing this week. With that said, some of the superior golfers in the field have a chance to break away with the lead early on.
Mike Weir 12/1
Weir has the shortest odds in the field, but for good reason, as Weir has finished first and fourth in at the Raptor in the only two years of this tournament’s existence. This course suits Weir, a left-hander, who keeps the ball in the fairway and reaches a high percentage of greens. Weir has eight top 20’s this year.
Ryan Moore 28/1
Moore holds a sixth place finish in the 2007 event and is one of the few golfers in the field that holds a win this year. Moore is coming off a seventh place finish last week in the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals Open.
Aaron Baddeley 35/1
Baddeley played in the 2008 event, and finished 11th. Baddeley has four top 20’s this year and has made his last two cuts. 2009 has not been Baddeley’s strongest year, but he appears to be finishing strong and playing at a course that he has had success at makes him a dark horse to win.
The 2009 Open will be played at Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Arizona starting on Thursday, Oct. 22 and concluding Sunday, Oct. 25.
