The big news out of Santa Anita Park this week is that Big Brown, the thoroughbred that was one victory shy of capturing horse racing’s Triple Crown earlier this year, has a broken foot and his career is over.

This means that Curlin is the odds-on favorite to win the 2008 Breeders’ Cup according to oddsmakers from SBG Global, who made the thoroughbred horse a 3/1 favorite days before Big Brown’s injury.

Below are the opening odds for the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Championship:

Behindatthebar 40/1

Big Brown 5/1

Casino Drive 14/1

Colonel John 8/1

Curlin 3/1

Divine Park 20/1

Duke Of Marmalade 10/1

Go Between 8/1

Harlem Rocker 25/1

Henrythenavigator 6/1

Mambo In Seattle 25/1

Mast Track 50/1

Pyro 20/1

Student Council 25/1
