Briscoe is the pre-race favorite to win with 3/1 odds according to odds makers from the online sports book SBGGLOBAL. Other short odds to win are Scott Dixon (7/2), Helio Castroneves (9/2), and Dario Franchitti (9/2).

Briscoe is coming off a win in the last IRL event on Aug. 29, and has finished first or second in six of his last seven events. Briscoe has three wins on the year and is holding off Franchitti, who is 25 points behind in the standings.

Dixon is third in the standings, 33 points behind Briscoe. Dixon finished second in the last race and has finished in the top five in nine of his last 11 races.

Castroneves was the 2006 winner of this event and is fourth in the points standings. Castroneves has not finished better than 12th in his last three races.

Franchitti has finished in the top five in five of his last six races and needs a win to try and get past Briscoe in the standings with two races remaining.

The Indy Japan 300 will take place this Friday, Sept. 18 from Twin Ring Motegi in Japan at 10:30PM ET. For complete odds and track information on this year’s event, see below.
