This is the first running of this event since 2005. According to oddsmakers, Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti are the favorites to win this race, as each has 9/2 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Helio Castroneves (5/1) and Will Power (7/1).

Dixon is currently fourth in the point standings. He has two wins on the year. He is not in the running to win the season championship, but is still a strong contender to win the race.

Franchitti actually won this event when it was last held in 2005. This year, Franchitti has just one win. He is currently back in ninth in the point standings.

Castroneves is one point ahead of Dixon in the standings. He has two wins on the year and is out of the running for the season title.

Power is leading the points standings by 17 points. He has three wins on the year, but you have to expect him to play it safe as he tries to hold onto the season title.

The MAVTV 500 will take place Saturday, September 15 from Auto Club Speedway at 7:30 ET. For complete odds and track information on this year’s event, see below.
