Stricker Wins Again
Steve Stricker took the lead in the FedEx Cup standings on Monday after he won the 2009 Deutsche Bank Championship.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Stricker entered the tournament with 9/1 odds to win, meaning a $100 bet on Stricker will pay out $900.
The win for Stricker pushes him past Tiger Woods for the lead in the FedEx Cup standings. Stricker now leads Woods by 909 points with two events remaining in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Stricker birdied the final two holes of Monday’s round to win the tournament at -17 by one stroke over Jason Dufner and Scott Verplank.
Dufner entered with 275/1 odds to win, but shot a 6-under 65 on Monday to climb to the top. Dufner had six birdies on the front nine holes in Monday’s round to set up his push up the leader board.
Angel Cabrera, Dustin Johnson, and Padraig Harrington finished tied for fourth in the tournament, as all finished at -15.
Woods opened with 23/20 odds to win, but finished tied for 11th overall at -12 overall after shooting an 8-under 63 on Monday.
The FedEx Cup Playoffs continue on Thursday with the BMW Championship. The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will compete this week.
