Italian Grand Prix Predictions
The Formula 1 Series waves the green flag on the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday morning. Here are our picks for the race.
The Italian Grand Prix takes place Sunday at 8AM ET from Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The race is a 191-mile contest that will run 53 laps around the track. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Lewis Hamilton is a -190 favorite to win this race. Other short odds to win are Sebastian Vettel (+333) and Valtteri Bottas (4/1).
Lewis Hamilton is a three-time winner of this race and he comes in as the hot driver right now. Hamilton is coming off a win last week to get back in the mix for the point standings and he has won two of the last three races. He has a series-best five wins on the year as well. Hamilton needs to continue to rack up wins if he hopes to win the points championship again.
Sebastian Vettel is also a three-time winner of this race, but his last win here came in 2013. He is the leader in the point standings with his four wins and five runner-up finishes. Still, Vettel tends to finish second more than first, so he will be trying to chase Hamilton on Sunday. He can still grab the win, but he will have to benefit from some bad luck from Hamilton.
Valtteri Bottas has been the third guy in the series this year. He is third in the point standings and one of the few to have won a race outside of Hamilton and Vettel. Bottas has two wins this year, three runner-up finishes and three third-place finishes. Bottas will certainly be in the mix today, as he has finished in the top 5 in his last seven races. With a little luck, he could make his way to the front.
