The Travers Stakes is also commonly referred to as the "Graveyard of Favorites" for the way large favorites have often come up short at Saratoga Springs. American Pharoah is currently on an eight-start winning streak and hasn't lost a race since August 9, 2014 when he finished fifth in a MSW. He last raced in the Grade I Haskell Invitational where he placed first ahead of Keen Ice and Upstart at Monmouth Park.
