PGA Champ. Picks
The PGA Championship kicks off today and our group of writers handicappers hand out their free picks for this weekend’s golf action.
Steve Stricker 25/1
We are actually suggesting staying away from Tiger and Phil this week as they have burned us for too long now. Both are playing awful and each has their own issues to deal with. Due to their struggles, this has opened the door for Stricker to possibly capture the No. 1 world ranking this weekend and we think he will step up and challenge for the title with the extra incentive on the line. Stricker has two wins on the year and has yet to miss a cut.
Jim Furyk 33/1
Furyk has been playing well as of late, landing in the top 10 in his last two events. A straight ball-striker, this course should play well to Furyk’s game and allow him to contend into the weekend. It isn’t often you can get a player of Furyk’s caliber with 33/1 odds, so jump on him while you have the chance.
Zach Johnson 100/1
If you are looking for a real dark horse this weekend, Zach Johnson is your man. His odds are long, which means you could really pull in the money if he wins. He has made his last seven cuts, which includes a win in the Crowne Plaza Invitational, and he finished 10th in the 2009 PGA Championship. His first PGA Championship was the 2004 event at Whistling Straits, and he took 37th there. Look for Johnson to be in the hunt this weekend and possibly provide a big payout.
