PGA Championship Picks
The 2009 PGA Championship tees off Thursday, Aug. 13 and our team of writers and handicappers have put together three free picks for the final major championship of 2009.
The PGA Championship takes place from Hazeltine in
The field is obviously very competitive from top to bottom, with only the best in the world getting an invitation to play.
Here are our free picks to for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational
Tiger Woods 3/2
Woods is on the hunt for a major championship this year, as this is his final chance to get one in 2009. Woods hasn’t been shutout from winning a major since 2004, and has won the last two events he has played in. In his last 24 events, Woods has won 14 of them. Woods is a four-time PGA Championship winner, and finished second in the 2002 PGA Championship at Hazeltine. Woods seems to be playing better than anyone right now and is hard to pick against.
Steve Stricker 33/1
Stricker has won two events in 2009 and is currently ranked fifth in the world and second in the PGA Tour FedExCup list. Stricker placed sixth in last weekend’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and has eight top 10 finishes in 2009 with two victories. Stricker has made his last nine cuts and has been playing very well as of late, just in time for the final major.
Ross Fisher 55/1
European Tour star Ross Fisher made a name for himself at the British Open, taking 13th after leading during the weekend. Fisher also posted a fifth place finish at the U.S. Open this year and took 30th at the Masters. Prior to finishing 43rd last weekend at Firestone Country Club, Fisher had finished 13th or better in his last three events. At 55/1 odds, Fisher is a play that could bring a big pay day on Sunday.
