Bet UFC 117
Guida enters the fight as a narrow favorite with a betting line of -120 with Dos Anjos given a line of -110 according to online sports book Here is a closer look at both fighters heading into this bout, which will take place from Oracle Arena in Oakland, California at 10PM ET on Pay Per-View.
Clay Guida (26-11):

: Guida is an exciting fighter that pushes a fast pace. He doesn’t have a long reach, which leads to struggles against strikers, but his relentless pace and wrestling skills make Guida a very tough fighter. Guida has been somewhat of a gate-keeper in the division, beating some of the best while failing to beat the elite. In this fight, he has the experience edge over his opponent.
Weaknesses: Guida has been susceptible to submissions as two of his last three losses come by rear-naked choke. Guida is tough to stop with strikes, but due to his limited reach, he tends to leave himself open and get into momentary slugfests. His reckless style has led to his downfall in a few bouts, but it is also what has defined him as a fighter and earned him a spot on the UFC roster.
Last Five Fights:
Second round submission win over Shannon Gugerty at UFC Live 1 on March 21, 2010

Second round submission loss to Kenny Florian at UFC 107 on Dec. 12, 2009

Split decision win over Nate Diaz at UFC 94 on Jan. 31, 2009

Unanimous decision win over Mac Danzig at UFC Fight Night 15 on Sept. 17, 2008
Rafael Dos Anjos (14-4):
Strengths: Dos Anjos is a stringy and elusive fighter that has shown well-rounded skills. His striking is respectable, but he ultimately would like the fight to be on the ground where he can use his submission wrestling to win. Dos Anjos is coming off a big submission victory over Terry Etim at UFC 112 and his fight on Saturday with Guida will be a true test of how far he has come along.
Weaknesses: Dos Anjos has struggled against stronger grapplers like Tyson Griffin. Dos Anjos doesn’t have a lot of muscle mass which leads to a weak base that allows him to get taken down. From there, if he is unable to secure a submission, it makes for a long night. That could be the case on Saturday against Guida.
Last Five Fights:
Second round submission win over Terry Etim at UFC 112 on April 10, 2010

Unanimous decision win over Kyle Bradley at UFC Fight Night 20 on Jan. 11, 2010

Unanimous decision win over Robert Emerson at UFC 103 on Sept. 19, 2009

Unanimous decision loss to Tyson Griffin at UFC Fight Night 18 on April 1, 2009

Third round KO loss to Jeremy Stephens at UFC 91 on Nov. 15, 2008

Who will win: Dos Anjos is getting a favorable line due to his last win, but prior to that, he wasn’t that heavily respected in the division. Guida has only lost to the best in the weight class and is getting a nice betting line considering his opponent. We think Guida should be able to control this fight on the ground and earn a decision victory without much trouble.
