According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Brazil is favored to take home the gold, as it is getting odds of +100 to win. Other short odds to win are Argentina (+550), Germany (+632) and Portugal (+1017). The Rio Olympics take place from August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Brazil will have the home-field support of having the Olympics in Rio. Brazil has never took home the gold medal, finishing second last year and third in 2008. They finished fourth at the last World Cup in 2014.
Argentina won the gold medal in 2008 and 2004, but didn’t qualify in 2012. They also finished second in 2014 World Cup, but haven’t won that since 1986.
Germany won the gold medal in soccer in 1976 and they last medaled in 1988. However, they are coming off a World Cup championship in 2014.
The best Portugal has done in the Olympics was fourth place in 1996. They are coming off a UEFA European Championship last month, but they struggled in the 2014 World Cup, not making it past the group stage.
