There is a pretty clear favorite to win the gold medal in Men’s Water Polo at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Here’s a look at the odds to win.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Serbia is favored to win the gold, as it is getting odds of -165 to win. The other short odds to win are Croatia (+600), Montenegro (+850) and Greece (+950). The Rio Olympics take place from August 5-21 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Serbia has won the bronze medal three times in this sport, including 2012. Their best showing was a silver in 2004. They are coming off a 2015 World Championship in Kazan.
Croatia is the defending Olympic gold medalist winner from 2012. It was their first gold. They also took silver in 1996. They finished second to Serbia in the 2015 World Championships.
Montenegro has yet to win a medal in the Olympics, placing fourth in the last two games. They finished fifth at the 2015 World Championships, but were second in 2013.
Greece hasn’t medaled in the Olympics in men’s water polo. Their best finish was fourth in 2004. The finished third in the recent 2015 World Championships.
