Olympic Women's Javelin Odds
LONDON, England (TheSpread) – The Women’s Javelin at the 2012 Olympics will be a display of strength and speed. Here is a look at the odds to win the gold in this event.
According to oddsmakers, Czech Barbora Spotakova is the favorite to win gold in this event, as she has 13/8 odds. Other short odds to win are Maria Abakumova (11/4) of Russia and Christina Obergfoll (4/1) of Germany.
Spotakova is 31 entering the Olympics and she is the defending gold medal winner from the 2008 Olympics. She has finished second in the last two World Championships.
Abakumova is 26 years old and was the silver medal winner at the 2008 Olympics. She is the current defending World Champion, as she claimed gold at the 2011 event in the javelin.
Obergfoll is 30 years old heading to the Olympics. She won the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games and she was second at the 2010 European Championships. She has not medaled in the last two World Championships.
