Oosthuizen dominates

Louis Oosthuizen made it look easy this weekend as he claimed his first major championship, winning the 2010 British Open by seven strokes.

Oosthuizen entered Sunday’s final round with a five-shot edge on Paul Casey and while the lead got whittled down as close as three, Oosthuizen pulled away to beat Casey by eight and finished the tournament at -16. Lee Westwood ended up in second at 9-under for the tournament.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL, Oosthuizen had 100/1 odds to win the event, meaning a $100 bet on Oosthuizen will pay out $10,000.

Oosthuizen is the fourth different South African to win the British Open and first since Ernie Els won in 2002. Oosthuizen never had a round over par as he shot a 1-under 71 on Sunday.

Westwood shot a 70 on Sunday to climb to second as Casey shot a 75. A triple-bogey on hole No. 12 is what eliminated Casey from being a serious contender.

Casey joined Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy in third place at 8-under par for the tournament.
