The 2010 British Open Championship is halfway complete, but an unlikely player is running away from the field.

Louis Oosthuizen is at 12-under for the tournament after shooting a 5-under 67 on Friday. Oosthuzien has a five-shot lead on Mark Calcavecchia with two rounds to play.

Oosthuzien is a 3/1 favorite to win according to oddsmakers from online sports book Other short odds to win are Tiger Woods (9/2) Lee Westwood (11/2) and Paul Casey (8/1).

Coming into the tournament, Oosthuzien was a 100/1 long shot to win, but an opening round 65 put him on the map and Friday’s 67 set him apart from the field. Friday was a rough day for most golfers as strong winds made for tough conditions, but Oosthuzien didn’t experience much adversity with the weather, as he played early in the day.

Woods finds himself eight shots back at -4 for the tournament after shooting a +1 73 on Friday. Woods started his day with a pair of bogies but managed to finish each nine with a birdie. Woods has finished in the top four of the previous two majors this year so look for him to stay in contention this weekend.

Westwood is in a tie for third with Casey at -6 for the tournament. Westwood shot a 1-under 71 on Friday, but he was disappointed with his round as he had an early tee time and he was hoping for a lower score. Westwood didn’t have a bogey on Friday, but had just the one birdie with 17 pars. Westwood is the top European Tour player and is ranked third in the world.

Casey shot his second-straight 69 on Friday to land at 6-under for the tournament. Casey had a stellar round on Friday except for a triple-bogey seven on No. 17. It was the lone hole he was over par on as he played the front nine 5-under par.
