British Open Picks

The 2010 British Open golf tournament begins on Thursday and our team of writers and handicappers have three suggested plays for the tournament.

Bet the 2010 British Open

Tiger Woods 9/2

Woods has not had a 2010 to remember, but he still has performed well in the major championships, landing fourth in both. Also, his history at St. Andrews can’t be ignored. Clearly Woods knows how to play the course and the urgency to win another major has to be setting in. Look for Woods to be in contention at the end of the week.

Justin Rose 15/1

Rose has two wins in 2010 and also has played well in past British Opens, including a fourth place finish in 1998 and 13th a year ago. Rose seems to be hitting the peak of his career with his two wins and his five top 10’s in 2010. Look for Rose to start out quickly and be in contention come Sunday.

Ross Fisher 50/1

Fisher is a dark horse play for the weekend. He has played in three British Opens and gotten progressively better with each one. He was cut in 2007 but finished 39th in 2008 and 13th in 2009. Fisher has struggled a bit this year, missing five cuts, be he also has three top 10’s, all of which came on European courses like St. Andrews. With 50/1 odds, Fisher could have a big payout on Sunday.

The 2010 British Open will take place at Old Course at St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland and it starts on Thursday, July 15.
