Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Spain the favorites to win the game with a betting line of +110 while Holland comes in at +240. A regulation draw has a line of +240.
Holland was a dark horse coming into the World Cup and they have went 6-0 on their way to the title game, winning their last five games by one goal. The marquee win on the march to the finals was a 2-1 victory over
Brazil, which made believers out of the world.
Holland has a lot of scoring ability, but is facing the toughest defense it has met yet in
Spain. With its own defensive concerns,
Holland will have to be able to put a couple balls in the net to win.
Spain came into the World Cup as the favorite to win it all but it has struggled most of the way, dropping its opener to
Switzerland and then playing to four 1-goal games.
Spain hasn’t had a dominant victory in the tournament, but it has still found ways to win, mostly due to its defense, which has only allowed two goals in six games. The win 1-0 win over
Germany showed that
Spain can stop any team, but its lack of scoring is an issue heading into the championship.
Holland and
Spain are both seeking their first World Cup title, so both teams will be hungry and play with full emotion. Ultimately I see Spain struggling to score despite Holland’s defensive woes, and much like it did against Brazil, look for the Dutch to find a way to put together a goal or two against the stingy Spain defense. We like
Holland to get the win and take home the World Cup.
