Public Betting Information
According to oddsmakers, England is a +110 favorite to win on the moneyline. Columbia is a +279 underdog, while a draw bet is set at +286. The total sits at 2 goals.
Columbia wins physical game vs. Senegal
A 1-0 win over Senegal secured the top spot for Columbia in Group H last week. The lone goal was scored by Yerry Mina in the 74th minute and Columbia proceeded to go into a shell and waste time the rest of the way, a strategy that proved effective. Columbia recorded 56 percent of the possession, but only managed four shots with two being on goal. Senegal had eight shots including three on goal. Columbia was called for 15 fouls and one yellow card, while it generated three corner kicks.
England loses by a goal to Belgium
Group G was decided last week by Belgium’s 1-0 victory over England, but it might not be such a bad situation for the latter as a win over Columbia would lead to playing the winner of Sweden and Switzerland in the quarterfinals. It could ultimately prove to be an easier draw than what Belgium will face in the quarterfinals. The goal by Belgium came in the 51st minute by Adrian Januzaj. England held 48 percent of the possession and registered 13 shots, but only one was on target. England committed 11 fouls and none were yellow cards, while it also had seven corner kicks but could do nothing with them.
Prediction:
Harry Kane and England looked strong in group play, although the foot was off the gas pedal some against Belgium. I believe it will be back to playing top-notch soccer again today as England is the better side and has a real chance to make a deep run in this tournament. For once, England might not screw it up.
