BROOKLYN, NY (The Spread) – How many hot dogs will Joey Chestnut eat in Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Independence Day this Friday?
Oddsmakers give us an idea of how many dogs Chestnut will consume when he takes on the rest of the field in this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. According to online sports book Bovada.lv, the over/under has been set at 65.5 for the number of hot dogs that Chestnut will eat in Coney Island this Friday.
For reference’s sake, Chestnut ate 61 hot dogs last year when he faced stiff competition from Matt Stonie, who finished second with 56 hotdogs in 10 minutes. Tim “Eater X” Janus finished in third as Chestnut won for the eighth consecutive year.
In other years, Chestnut ate 69 hot dogs in 2013, 68 in 2012 and 62 in 2011. His lowest total over the last five years came in 2010 when he “only” hate 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes, while he ate 68 in 2009 and 59 in 2008. The first time he won the event was in 2008 when he ate 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes when he defeated Takeru Kobayashi (who had won six-straight Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contests).
