According to oddsmakers, Serbia is favored to win gold in this event, as it has odds of +150. Other short odds to win are Hungary (+250) and Croatia (+400).
Serbia did not medal in the 2008 Olympics, but took bronze in 2004. Serbia has never won gold in men’s water polo.
Hungary has won the gold in the last three Olympic games. Hungary has won a total of nine gold medals in water polo at the Olympics.
Croatia last medaled in this event in 1996, when it won the silver. That was the only medal the country has ever won in water polo.
