Austrian Grand Prix Picks
The Formula 1 Series will wave the green flag on the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday morning. Which drivers are the best bets to win?
The Austrian Grand Prix takes place Sunday at 9AM ET from Red Bull Ring. The race is a 190-mile contest that will run 71 laps around the track. According to oddsmakers, Lewis Hamilton is the clear favorite to win this race, as he is getting -285 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Sebastian Vettel (+180) and Valtteri Bottas (+4000).
Lewis Hamilton -285
Hamilton claimed the win in this race in 2016. He finished fourth a year ago, but he comes into this weekend as the points leader in the series once again. Hamilton picked up a victory in France in the last race and has three wins this year. He has yet to finish outside the top 5 in any race this year and is always considered the man to beat in the F1 series.
Sebastian Vettel +180
Surprisingly, Vettel hasn’t picked up a win in this event. He finished second last year, but has been retired twice in the last four years. Vettel currently trails Hamilton in the point standings despite three wins of his own. He has finished outside the top 5 in just one race this year. Vettel has a lot of motivation for this race. He’s never won here and he needs the win to get back in front of Hamilton. I think Vettel may actually be the man to beat.
Valtteri Bottas +4000
Bottas is actually the defending champion of this race. He picked up three wins in 2017, but he hasn’t been able to find the top of the podium this year. Still, Bottas is fourth in the standings right now and has four runner-up finishes. I think Bottas comes to Austria knowing this is somewhere he has to get aggressive if he wants to make any kind of run at the series championship.
