(The Spread) – The 2014 World Cup is set to begin its 16-team tournament on Saturday. Here is an updated look at the odds to score the most goals in the event.

According to oddsmakers at, Lionel Messi of Argentina and Neymar of Brazil are the co-favorites, as each has 5/2 odds while Thomas Muller has 7/2 odds.

Messi currently has four goals in the three World Cup games, which is tied for the most of any player in the World Cup. He has taken a total of 13 shots in the three games with seven shots on goal. Argentina has a favorable half of its bracket to make a deep run, thus giving Messi a chance to play in four more games.

Neymar also has four goals in the World Cup. He has taken 11 total shots thus far in the World Cup, with 10 shots on goal. Brazil is the favorite to win the World Cup, with Neymar being their top player.

Muller has scored four goals as well for Germany. He has scored his goals on just seven shots and six shots on goal. Germany has been very strong thus far, but has a tough half of its bracket and will have to get past Brazil to win the World Cup.
