Olympic Gold Over/Under Odds
LONDON (TheSpread) – The 2012 Summer Olympics are just a month away and the gold medal total odds have been set for some of the biggest countries in the competition.
The country most Americans care about is obviously the United States. Oddsmakers have listed the U.S. with an over/under of 38.5 gold medals. In Olympic history, the U.S. has won by far the most gold medals in the summer games. The United States owns 930 gold medals all-time. Second place is nearly a third of that total. In 2008, the United States won 36 gold medals and in 2004, they claimed 35.
China is expected to compete with the U.S. for the most gold medals won this year. They have been given over/under odds of 36.5 gold medals. In 2008, China easily won the most golds, claiming 51, and in 2004 they totaled 32.
The country with the next highest odds total is Russia, which has been given odds of 26.5 gold medals. Russia brought in 23 gold medals back at the 2008 games. In 2004, the managed to win 28.
