Oddsmakers have listed Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova as the favorites this year, giving each 11/4 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Petra Kvitova (7/2) and Victoria Azarenka (6/1).

Williams has won a total of 13 grand slam titles in her career, including four Wimbledon crowns. Her last Wimbledon title came in 2010. She has failed to reach even the quarterfinals in three of her last four grand slam events.

Sharapova has won four grand slam titles, including the 2004 Wimbledon title. She is coming off a win at the French Open to complete the career grand slam and she has reached the finals in three of her last four grand slam events.

Kvitova is the defending Wimbledon champion. It was and is her only grand slam championship. She has reached the semifinals in her last two grand slam tournaments.

Azarenka has one grand slam championship to her credit, the 2012 Australian Open. She has never gotten past the semifinal of any other grand slam event, including Wimbledon.

The 2012 Wimbledon Championships take place from June 25 through July 8 from the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club in London. For complete odds to win the women’s single title, see below.
