Wimbledon Odds: Men
The 2009 Wimbledon tennis tournament kicks off June 22 and Roger Federer has opened as a favorite over Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic on the men’s side.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com has made Federer a 5/7 favorite over Murray (12/5), Djokovic (12/1) and the rest of the field. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (25/1), Andy Roddick (25/1) and Juan Martin Del Potro (25/1) round out the rest of the top 5 at this year’s Wimbledon.
Federer will open up against Yen-Hsun Lu in the First Round (Section 4) and will face the winner of Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Aqustin Calleri. Murray will face Robert Kendrick of USA in the opening round (Section 2), while American favorite Andy Roddick will open up against Jeremy Chardy of France in the First Round (Section 1).
Federer has won five Wimbledon tournaments throughout his career and all five came in consecutive victories from 2003 through 2007. He fell to Rafael Nadal in 2008 by a score of 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-7(8) and 9-7.
