Olympic Men's Basketball Odds
LONDON, England (TheSpread) – One of the featured events of any Summer Olympics is Men’s Basketball. Here is a look at the odds to win the gold medal in this event.
Not surprisingly, the United States is the overwhelming favorite to win the gold medal in men’s basketball, as they have 1/10 odds to win. Other short odds to claim the gold in this event are Spain (6/1) and France (20/1).
The U.S. team has an overwhelming roster of talent including the likes of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and others. After failing to claim gold in the previous two Olympics, the 2008 team reclaimed its spot as the best in the world, winning the gold. Many players are back for this 2012 team to help defend the title.
Spain won the silver medal in 2008 and won the 2011 Eurobasket gold medal. This team features a number of NBA stars as well, including Pau and Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka, Ricky Rubio, and Rudy Fernandez.
France’s best effort in the Olympics for basketball was a silver medal back in 2000. The team did claim the silver medal in 2011 for Eurobasket. This year’s squad features a trio of notable NBA stars in Tony Parker, Boris Diaw, and Joakim Noah.
The 2012 Summer Olympics will take place from London, England from July 27 through August 12 of this summer. For the complete odds for which county will win the gold medal in men’s basketball, see below.
